New Funding Announced

The Minister for Regional Development, Hon Alannah McTiernan, has announced the extension of the Good Choice, WA Campaign. The WA government and Buy West Eat Best program members will contribute $1.04 million to extend the campaign until 2021, following the success of the initial 1-year campaign.

First introduced to consumers in 2017, Good Choice, WA is a marketing campaign of Buy West Eat Best that encourages people to shop local as part of a coordinated approach to support WA producers, farmers and other food and beverage industry businesses.

Minister McTiernan said that enjoying great quality local produce was not the only reason for the Good Choice, WA Program’s continued success.

“Recent brand research showed supporting local farmers was the top reason to buy local among those who believe shopping local was important.”

“It also showed almost 9 in 10 West Aussies trust the Buy West Eat Best brand and believe it’s important to the WA economy.”

“Promoting the abundant array of high quality, fresh produce across Western Australia is also an opportunity to drive tourism to the regions, with visitors able to sample local foods in picturesque locations.”

The initial goal of the Good Choice, WA campaign was to remind WA consumers of the importance of buying local to both support WA producers and retailers as well as enjoy the freshness and quality of local produce.

The campaign extension will build on the good choice message to acknowledge and congratulate consumers who are now actively choosing local food and beverage products and encouraging other shoppers to join them.

Metropolitan and Regional Television Commercials, radio advertising, in-store signage, bus signage, print, social media and digital marketing will form a multi-media approach to spreading the message about Good Choice, WA.
