Hot and sour banana salad

How to


  1. First, make the dressing by combining its ingredients in a jar, shake well, set aside until serving.
  2. Slice the bananas, pick the ends off the bean shoots, remove the herbs from their stems, wash and spin dry.
  3. Chop the chilli and toast the shaved coconut until golden.

To Serve

Place the banana, bean shoots, toasted coconut, red chilli and herbs in your salad bowl.
Pour the dressing over and enjoy the balance of hot, sour, sweet and salty.


  • 100ml Korean drinking vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp fermented soybean sauce 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp green onions(shallots)
  • For the salad:
  • 3 Sweeter Bananas
  • 2 cups bean shoots
  • red hot chillies to taste
  • 24 mint leaves
  • 12 branches of fresh coriander half cup of toasted shaved coconut
