Sardines in Vine Leaves

How to


  1. Pre-heat BBQ hotplate to high.
  2. Season fish with salt and pepper then wrap each snuggly in a vine leaf.
  3. Drizzle with a little olive oil and cook on the BBQ for 3 minutes on each side.
  4. Remove sardines to a platter.
  5. Combine crushed garlic, lemon juice and remaining olive oil and drizzle over fish.
  6. Serve with lemon wedges.


  • 10 sardines, gutted
  • Salt and pepper, to season
  • 10 fresh, young vine leaves, washed
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Juice 1 lemon
  • 1 garlic cloves, crushed
  • Lemon wedges to serve
