In focus: Blueberries

They’re tiny but powerful, taste delicious on their own and add a brilliant burst of flavour to so many dishes, particularly desserts. Blueberries are abundant this time of year and we couldn’t be happier.

These beauties pack a lot into such a small package. Often called a superfood, they are loaded with all the good stuff, including fibre, vitamins C and K, and magnesium. They are high in disease-fighting antioxidants and blissfully low in calories. They are also made up of a whopping 85 percent water, which makes them particularly refreshing in the warmer months.

Start your day with a handful scattered over your muesli or granola, add to a smoothie for breakfast on the go or indulge in some blueberry pancakes. Blueberries are also perfect with fresh WA cream or ice-cream, but if you want to impress some guests, we suggest taking dessert up a notch with this blueberry and almond tart.
