Banana mess with walnuts
(Recipe by chef Don Hancey, WA Food Ambassador)
Peel and slice ripe bananas. In your serving glasses, add layers of banana, cream, meringue and caramel sauce.
Sprinkle with chopped walnuts, or any other of your favourite nuts.
Garnish with fresh mint.
This dessert is best made just before serving — get the kids involved, as they love making it, too.
For adults, add a splash of liqueur to the whipped cream. Try a Swan Valley muscat, Manjimup cherry port, or Karri Honey Whisky from the Great Southern.
