Eco Bread

Craving a slice of home, Yaneck and Marta have turned their passion for Polish bread into a successful business.

When the couple first emigrated to Perth from Poland, they struggled to find a suitable replacement for the bread they were accustomed to at home. In 2014, they began the process of making what they missed.

The IT specialist and personal trainer duo turned their hands to baking, striving to create authentic Polish sourdough bread, a niche that the bakery market failed to capture.

The first loaves were baked only as a hobby, for friends and family. Now, Eco Bread is stocked in 25+ stores across the Perth Metro region.

They use traditional Polish recipes handed down throughout the years for their bread, which is also handmade within their at-home bakery.

Using the highest quality ingredients sourced from local WA suppliers, 100 percent natural sourdough starter is combined with various grains to produce bread devoid of artificial colourings, dough conditioners and preservatives. The use of such traditional methods often means that it can take up to 24 hours to produce store-ready goods.

Eco Bread holds two medals from the Perth Royal Food Awards, including a gold medal in decorative scoring and stencilling, and a silver medal was bestowed upon their dark rye within the German rye category.

They have recently expanded their business to produce a select number of Polish sweet buns, as well as breads more suited to the Australian palette – all with a passionate Polish twist.
