Delcado & cheese toastie
Method
Serves 8. (This recipe was provided by Delroy Orchards.)
Preheat oven to 200C fan forced.
Cut the Delcado avocados in half, remove the seed and peel.
Place the avocado face down on a board and thinly slice each one.
To build each sandwich, place a piece of bread on the board, top with slices of cheddar (or grated cheddar) and one sliced avocado half. Season with salt and pepper, then top with two more slices of cheddar (or grated cheddar) and another piece of bread.
Drizzle olive oil onto a non-stick pan. Place sandwich in the pan and fry over medium heat, about 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the sandwich in the pan and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
Remove from the pan and slice with a serrated knife to serve.
Repeat with the remaining ingredients to build 4 sandwiches.
Handy Tips
Delcados are the ideal choice for this toastie thanks to their smooth, buttery texture, making for a deliciously creamy filling. Delcados are slow grown and left on the tree for almost twice as long as other avocados to let their rich, unique flavour develop.
