Buy West Eat Best which has championed the local food industry since 2007, is now part of Western Australia’s restaurant scene.
Participating restaurants must commit to ensuring at least 70 per cent of entrée and main meals on the menu have WA produce as the main characterising ingredient.
The initiative was launched in May at Sandalford Winery by local food identity Rob Broadfield.
The event was supported by new restaurant members including Sandalford Winery and The Shorehouse in Swanbourne. Executive Chef from Shorehouse Ollie Gould said, “I encourage local chefs here today to get creative with their menus and buy local as much as possible as customers really do respond, plus it’s our duty to support our local farmers and food industry!”
Other restaurant members include Petition, Don Tapa, Frasers in Kings Park, Jus Burgers in Leederville, and the Wembley Hotel. More than 130 Western Australian food producers, manufacturers, retailers and restaurants now support the Buy West Eat Best Program.
