We’re thrilled to be heading back to Yagan Square on 9 September for our next instalment of Taste of WA, showcasing what makes the Swan Valley and surrounding regions so unique.

We’re also pleased to welcome all of our new producer and retailer members that have joined the Buy West Eat Best program over the last few months. Without further ado, here’s just a taste from four of the wonderful business to join the Buy West Eat Best community:

Farmhand Foods

Farmhand Foods was born from a passionate bunch of WA foodies who believed there was a way to create delectable treats without the use of highly processed ingredients, preservatives or other additives.

All product recipes were developed by renowned cook and food writer Kirsty Carre, ensuring the treats are nutritious, nourishing and, above all, make the taste buds sing!

Think smooth and sweet honey products, including a mouth-watering stunning honeycomb and seed and nut snacks – all hand-crafted in small batches using the highest quality local ingredients.

All honey products come straight from their very own hives in WA’s South West. This is raw honey at its finest – no processing or additives. Trust us, you can taste the difference!

Be sure to follow the Farmhand Foods Facebook and Instagram page to stay updated on their latest range of treats, or visit their website to find your nearest stockist.

Mondo Doro

Mondo Doro is the brainchild of John and Nick Ciampini and John Rapanara, who collectively have over 150 years’ experience in smallgoods manufacturing.

Using traditional family recipes and meticulously sourced local pork and beef, Mondo Doro has built a stellar reputation over the last 20 years for their vast range of authentic European smallgoods.

The Mondo Doro team recently picked up a collection of awards at the Perth Royal Smallgoods Awards, including a gold medal for their famous rindless bacon. International Bacon Day was on 1 September but who says we can't celebrate West Aussie bacon every day?

Foley's Frothing Fermentations

Foley’s Frothing Fermentations is the passion project of local chef and wellness warrior Margot and her partner Tim. After years of traveling, including time working as a head chef on super yachts, Margot moved back to her beloved WA and started working as a chef in a host of vegetarian cafes. It was there that her passion for health and wellness was sparked.

Margot’s kitchen bench was soon full of jars of fermenting vegetables and her bookshelf bursting with information on the traditional fermentation process. Before long, Foley’s Frothing Fermentations was born and has since gone from strength to strength garnering a cult following amongst WA foodies.

Bookara Goat Dairy

You will be calling yourself a goat cheese enthusiast after you get your hands on the stunning range of handmade cheeses from Bookara Goat Dairy.

Based just south of Geraldton, Bookara Goat Dairy combines fresh goats milk with the finest cultures, a sprinkle of WA salt and a whole lot of love to produce an array of charming cheeses and yoghurts that are all natural, wholesome and rich in flavour. Their goats are fed oats and barley and even get played a range of stimulating music while being milked!

Bookara’s goat dairy haloumi is their first cheese creation and remains a signature cheese amongst their range. It fries perfectly to a crisp golden brown with a unique, delightfully soft texture and light, salty taste.

We LOVE their probiotic rich goat dairy yoghurt, which is perfect for both savoury and sweet dishes (or on its own). Try adding a dollop on top of your favourite curry for the perfect light and creamy complement.

You can pick up Bookara Goat dairy products at Kakulas Sister Grocer in Fremantle and at a range of farmers markets in Perth and Geraldton.

Head to the Bookara Goat Dairy website to find out more about their products and explore a great range of recipes selected by the goat dairy experts themselves - everything from goat ricotta gnocchi to asparagus and goat curd bites.
