Ah Beng

Ah Beng uses local ingredients to craft traditional Indonesian sambals that will spice up your life.

Much more than a blend of spices and chillies, Ah Beng’s sambals are a testimony to Indonesia’s rich culinary history, the quality of Western Australian produce and David Wijaya’s creativity.

The owner-chef of Ah Beng Indonesia, a halal restaurant in the rooftop of Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre, began dishing up the condiment more than a decade ago.

Served with dishes such as ayem geprek (crispy fried chicken and sambal) and mia pedas jeletot (spicy noodles) or own its own, the sambal’s winning balance of spice, tang and sweetness had customers begging him for some to take home.

The following sambals, all made from carefully selected local produce such as chillies, shallots, garlic and tomatoes, are available to buy through the restaurant:

  • Sambal Sunda Kemangi (gluten free)
  • Sambal Balado (vegan)
  • Sambal Ijo Padang (gluten free)

Perfect for adding a kick to any dish, Ah Beng’s delicious sambal is bound to win a permanent place in your kitchen.
